How long do I have to sign up for?
We offer month to month leases, meaning no long term contracts.
When can I get to my belongings?
Facilities are open 7 days a week. Specific hours vary slightly by location. Please check with your location manager or the facility's web page for specific hours.
How much notice must be given when I move out?
We require a 10 day written notice to move out. Full details on the vacating policy will be provided for you at the time of move-in.
Do you offer a mover?
Although we don't offer a mover, we do offer FREE use of our moving truck at move-in. Please contact a facility near you for full details. We would also be more than happy to recommend a reliable local mover.
How can I make a payment?
You may use credit cards, debit cards, personal checks, money orders or cash. For your convenience we offer an auto-pay program for credit and debit cards, which will automatically charge your rent payment to your account every month. You will soon be able to pay online through this website.
What sizes do you have and how much do they cost?
We have a wide variety of unit sizes to meet your needs. Unit sizes and prices vary by location. Please contact a facility near you for available sizes and prices.
How do I calculate how much storage space to rent?
Our expert managers can assist you in determining the right unit size. Just give us a brief description of what will be stored, and we'll help you determine how much space is needed. You can also refer to the helpful sections of our website under Unit Sizes and Storage Tips.
Do you sell locks, packing and moving supplies?
Yes, we sell high quality locks. Each tenant is responsible for their own lock. We also sell boxes and moving supplies at each location in the store office.
Do you have outdoor storage for boats, RVs and other vehicles?
Yes, we have space for boats, RVs, commercial vehicles, small trailers, trucks and cars at our Woburn and Salisbury locations.
How often will my rate increase?
At STOR-U-SELF we guarantee that your rate will not increase for one year and that if there is a rate increase it will never exceed 10%.
Do I need insurance on my specific unit?
Insurance coverage for your personal property that you place in storage is entirely your responsibility. WE DO NOT PROVIDE INSURANCE FOR YOUR BELONGS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Customer Storage Insurance is available at the rental office and can be paid monthly. Often homeowner's or renter's insurance policies exclude "off premise storage." We strongly recommend that you make absolute arrangements for insurance coverage while storing your property. If you are spending money to store your property, why not protect it.
Will my lease automatically renew every month?
Yes, your lease will automatically renew itself on a month to month basis. You only need to notify us when you intend to vacate the space.
Do I need my own lock? Do you have keys to my storage space?
Yes, you must provide your own lock for your storage space. For your convenience we sell good quality locks in our rental office. You will be the only one who has keys to the lock for your storage space.
Will you pay me a referral fee if I send someone to you who rents a space?
Absolutely! Our many satisfied customers are a great source of new renters. Please be sure to contact the manager of your facility for details. There are no limits to the number of referral fees you may earn!
What is climate control?
Climate controlled units maintain a temperature roughly between 50 and 80 degrees with the use of heat and humidity control systems. This feature helps protect your stored belongings from the extreme temperatures. For those items that are sensitive to temperature and or humidity extremes - whether they are personal papers, electronics, valuable furniture, photographs or pharmaceuticals - climate control is recommended.
What is a roll-up door?
Roll-up doors are the most common door in self-storage. They are accessed by sliding a latch and lifting the door upward, similar to the motion of a garage door. Roll-up doors allow you to maximize the usage of your space right up to the ceiling.
What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?
An outdoor unit has access from outside. An indoor unit is within the property and will require you to go inside the facility to access your unit.
Do I get a discount if I commit to a longer stay?

What does "on-site" manager mean?
"On-site" manager means that an employee, usually the Store Manager, has an apartment on-site as part of the facility or occupies an on site Security Quarters after business hours.
What type of security do you have on the premises?
We feature electronic entry with coded access, recorded video surveillance, fenced and well-lit facilities. We use video cameras at all of our locations which are usually located at the point of entry and exit as well as in strategically placed locations throughout the facility. Most of our locations also require key pad entry with an assigned code for each tenant. The code allows us to monitor who is entering and exiting the facility. We also allow the state and municipal police departments to train K-9 dogs in the facilities to detect for any hazardous materials and or any narcotics. This K-9 Training program has proven to be a valuable service for the communities in which we operate as well as an added measure of protection for our clients.
What's the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The office hours are the hours of operation for the property. During these hours the Store Manager will be available to assist you with your storage needs or moving and packing supplies. The gate hours are the hours of the property, and when your unit can be accessed.
Are there any restrictions of what I can store in my unit?
Everything that is to be stored in a unit must be in compliance with all state and federal laws. Specifically you can't store anything that is flammable, hazardous, or poisonous in nature. Also, no food or perishable items can be stored in your unit. If in doubt of what can be stored in your unit, please ask the property manager. Examples of items that cannot be stored are: Ammunitions, gasoline, paint, paint thinner, propane, food, produce, plants, fireworks, etc. Refer to your Lease Agreement for further restrictions.
